Whiting Junction, IN 1982 vs 2018

This location is Whiting Junction in Whiting, Indiana. By this time of the top 1982 photo, the PRR Fort Wayne Line had been severed to the east between a drawbridge and Clarke Junction. Conrail was still using one of these three tracks to access a refinery to the east of here. The single track crossing is the B&OCT branch that ran from the lakefront to their mainline. The foundation of the tower is still visible is the bottom photo, which was taken on August 25, 2018. The PRR trackage was removed in 1993.
 

Amtrak Hoosier State and Cardinal Trains Combined!

 Amtrak's southbound Hoosier State stops to pick up a lone passenger at Rensselaer, Indiana. It appears they have combined the equipment for the Hoosier State and Cardinal So it can be dead-headed to Beech Grove Shops for maintenance. This is CSX's former Chicago Indianapolis & Louisville, later known as the Monon Route after 1956. The Amtrak Hoosier State was begun on October 1, 1980.

 

GE P42DC's 165 and 134 are in charge.  The P42DC was first built in 1996 as the third order of the Amtrak Genesis line. They are available in HO Scale.

2 Sets Of Siemens Type 4 Light Rail Trainsets at Cascades Stop

 At the Cascades stop on Portland's TRIMET MAX Light Rail System, a pair of Type 4 Trainsets meet on a warm afternoon. These sleek trainset were built by Siemens. This light rail train station is named for the parallel Cascades Parkway. These light rail train stops are a few blocks apart.

TWO CN Railroad trains MEET at Wellsboro, IN 2012!

 I returned to Wellsboro to record the heavy train traffic, and was not disappointed. I caught a meet between two CN trains on the Battle Creek line. This is the former Grand Trunk Western Railroad. Both trains clear the diamond at almost the same time! Note that the bell for the railroad crossing gate stops before the gate lowers. The first train is carrying ship containers on the rear. C&NW Searchlight SIGNALS at Cortland, IL September, 2017

 These are the Chicago & Northwestern Railway searchlight signals that guarded the crossover at Cortland, Illinois. This is along the Overland Route, now known as the Geneva Sub, now owned by Union Pacific Railroad. These signals were replaced in September, 2020.
