Norfolk Southern EMD SD70M-2 and C44-9W At Leesburg, Indiana

 At Leesburg, Indiana, a Norfolk Southern EMD SD70M-2 and GE C44-9W wait in the siding with a tank train. This is the former NYC Goshen Line, that Conrail used between Goshen and Anderson, Indiana. Meets at the siding are frequent. Soon after, a southbound Norfolk Southern train passed on the mainline. The southbound was lead by an SD70ACE and an SD70ACU.

Railroad Junction At Shelby, Indiana

 The railroad junction at Shelby, Indiana features a diamond between CSX's ex-Monon Route and Norfolk Southern's Kankakee Belt Line. For photos, you can set up on the patch of ballast next to the railroad crossing gate. The railroad crossing bell is of the electronic type. Amtrak's CARDINAL passes through here on CSX. The large propane tanks on the northeast corner are for an FS facility. The Kankakee Belt Line ends at Wheatfield, Indiana, and it used to deliver coal to the NIPSCO Power Plant. Like other coal power plants in the US, this one is subject to rumors of a shut-down. Rail traffic here is light; Amtrak runs northbound in the morning and southbound at night. CSX runs 3-5 freights per day, and NS traffic is sporadic.
