Classic NKP HOME SIGNAL at Walkerton, Indiana

 The New York Chicago & St. Louis Raiload, (nicknamed The Nickel Plate), once operated the Indianapolis to Michigan railroad line that passes through Walkerton, Indiana. The distinctive Nickel Plate Railroad block signal that guards the diamond with CSX's Garret Sub still stands, although its days are numbered. The Nickel Plate Railroad was merged into the Norfolk & Western Railroad on October 16, 1964. These photos were taken on May 23, 2023.

Amtrak Capitol Limited at Waterloo With P40DC Leader!

Amtrak's eastbound Capitol Limited stops for passengers at Waterloo, Indiana. P40DC 818 and P42DC 55 are in charge. The 818 is a P40 locomotive from the first order of Amtrak Genesis diesels in 1993.  On September 4, 2018, a westbound CSX auto rack train crosses over from the north main to the south main and crosses the GTW diamonds. Typical CSX train length is demonstrated here.

Old Railroad Crossing at Indiana Route 104. 6/5/19

 This abandoned railroad crossing is at Indiana Route 104 in Kankakee, Indiana. Located just north of Walkerton, this is the former NKP IMC Line. It is owned by the Elkhart & Western to the south and South Shore to the north. Note the old railroad crossing lights, one of which is missing. This cut railroad crossing serves as the boundary between the companies.

 At Milford Junction, Indiana, a pair of brand new Norfolk Southern SD70ACE's wait their turn to cross CSX's Garrett Sub. This Norfolk Southern locomotive is more fuel efficient than the C40-9Ws. This railroad diamond is located in the woods just off Indiana Route 15.
