CN GP9R REBUILD and GTW GP38 Leads Local at Champaign, IL

 

An eastbound CN local heads east on the IC branch from Seymour, and is passing through Staley on the west side of Champaign, Illinois. The Illinois Terminal Railroad had a line running parallel to the IC at this point, and it was here that they swung onto the IC and put their wires up over their tracks in 1927 so they could get off the city streets. We will follow this local through Champaign. Power is a Canadian National GP9R and a Grand Trunk Western GP38-2.

ILLINOIS CENTRAL CABOOSE W/GP9R AND GP38-2 BACKS UP LONG TRAIN

 

We continue our trek of the CN Seymour Local. He has now pulled onto the IC New Orleans mainline and is backing north. After crossing NS' ex-Peoria & Eastern line, he backs across Bradley Avenue and into the yard. Note the crew members on the caboose operating the tailhose whistle . Power is a GTW GP38 and a CN GP9 rebuild.
