Peering through the shimmering September heatwaves, a southbound CSX manifest freight plays a bit of hide-and-seek with the iconic B&O color position light signals at the famous Deshler diamonds. As the train charges south toward Lima, Ohio, the signal masts briefly obscure the locomotives in the distance before the power finally emerges from the distortion of the heat. Leading the train is a modern GEVO, paired with a veteran GE AC4400CW, providing a nice mix of contemporary CSX horsepower. Filmed at the legendary railfan hotspot Deshler, Ohio, where the ex-B&O Willard Subdivision meets the Toledo Subdivision, this location continues to deliver some of the best mainline railroading action in the Midwest.
